I Kissed a Girl: Meet the cast of BBC Three's new dating series
We're heading back to the masseria
Dannii Minogue is officially back on our screens with a new series I Kissed a Girl, so get ready for a summer of sizzling chemistry, potential romance, and of course that stunning masseria. Following on from the success of I Kissed a Boy last year, BBC Three is giving the girls a shot at finding love, by bringing together a group of queer, bisexual and lesbian women for the reality series. In the dating show, the women will date their fellow cast members with the hope of building a deeper connection, all while living together in Italy and also entertaining some interesting new arrivals. We're obsessed with the series, and here is everything you need to know about the cast, including the three new arrivals.
New Arrival: Em
Age: 25
From: Surrey
Job: Cancer research scientist
What do you need to know about her? Em was previously in a five year relationship with a man, but after talking about her sexuality they agreed to end their relationship. She's now embraced masculine clothing, cut her hair and is attracted to femme women.
What has she said about going on the show? "I hope I've shown that staying true to yourself is always the best way to be, whether that is making tough decisions about your sexuality and relationships or being honest about who you actually fancy. Honesty is always the best policy!"
New Arrival: Lailah
Age: 25
From: Cardiff
Job: Student/footballer
What do you need to know about her? Lailah is proud to be a bisexual woman of colour and while she doesn't have a set type, she wants someone to match her chilled out energy. She thinks the lesbian dating scene moves too fast and she's looking for a serious relationship.
What has she said about going on the show? "It was amazing being in a fully queer environment! Growing up feeling like a minority, for me it was a nice change to know we were all girls that liked girls."
New Arrival: Beth
Age: 25
From: Bath
Job: Paralegal
What do you need to know about her? Beth loves women with masc energy and says 'butch women' are her weakness. Sexual chemistry is really important to Beth in relationships, as she believes it's the one thing in a queer relationship that separates it from a friendship.
What has she said about going on the show? "We are just an ordinary group of twenty-somethings trying to find love in the world. This show plays a huge part in normalising queerness - we are just like everyone else!"
Abbie
Age: 24
From: Brighton
Job: Makeup artist and hair stylist
What do you need to know about her? Abbie describes her dating history as 'disastrous' and is looking for someone to treat her like a princess. Her typical type is sporty, masc-presenting girls.
What has she said about going on the show? "What I loved most about the show was how comfortable I instantly felt around all the girls, in a judgement free environment, allowing myself to be vulnerable in conversations around sexuality.”
Amy
Age: 24
From: Surrey, living in London
Job: Social media manager
What do you need to know about her? Amy has been single for three years, and describes herself as having femme energy and is attracted to other femme girls.
What has she said about going on the show? “We made Herstory! I can only imagine the sense of validation and belonging that me and my sisters would have felt had we had this kind of representation on our telly growing up (the closet was cramped in our house). From me, you can expect boots, boob and a boatload of banter."
Cara
Age: 25
From: Ballycastle, Northern Ireland
Job: Support worker/aesthetics
What do you need to know about her? Cara identifies as bisexual and has had relationships with men and women.
What has she said about going on the show? "Coming from a small town in Northern Ireland, the rare chance to be in an environment exclusively full of queer women was an opportunity of a lifetime."
Demi
Age: 23
From: Hemel Hampstead
Job: Publishing executive
What do you need to know about her? Demi describes herself as a "baby gay" and has had a few experiences with women but never been in a relationship.
What has she said about going on the show? “I was able to be 100 percent unapologetically myself and I got to experience being part of a close-knit queer community.”
Fiorenza
Age: 22
From: Glasgow
Job: Drummer for band Uninvited
What do you need to know about her? Fiorenza says she's a big softie and could be described as a "golden retriever lesbian". Her usual type is a femme girl, who is assertive and could be considered a "black cat".
What has she said about going on the show? “I’m very proud to be a part of the show, especially the first season for the girls! It should have existed years ago. We need more representation for lesbian relationships and what the dating life of a lezza entails as it’s such a unique and special thing that should be shown everywhere!”
Georgia
Age: 28
From: Hunmanby, North Yorkshire
Job: Professional footballer
What do you need to know about her? Georgia hasn't been on a date in over a year and her usual type is femme girls with "an edge". She wants to meet someone who is ambitious and who also understands the importance of football in Georgia's life.
What has she said about going on the show? "My goal was not to cry on television and I think I made it to day two. It's amazing that there's finally a show like this out there. It's incredible representation and I'm just so glad I got to be a part of it.”
Lisha
Age: 22
From: Caernarfon, Wales
Job: Psychology undergraduate
What do you need to know about her? Lisha tends to connect with femme girls, and is often the dominant person in the relationship. However, she doesn't like being boxed into stereotypes and wants to be able to express her feminine side in a relationship too.
What has she said about going on the show? "The show is a step forward for the LGBTQ+ community and will hopefully help others have the courage to come out and be true to themselves.”
Meg
Age: 24
From: Goole, West Yorkshire
Job: Fire breather
What do you need to know about her? Meg doesn't like labels, but if she had to use one, she would describe herself as bisexual with a preference towards women. She's looking to settle down and wants to find someone with a good heart.
What has she said about going on the show? “I loved the opportunity to meet so many beautiful queer girlies and being able to explore my type. I will definitely be bringing some heat to the show... in many ways.”
Naee
Age: 25
From: London
Job: Engineer
What do you need to know about her? Naee describes herself as a masc woman and only dates femmes. She's looking to take the lead in a relationship and will treat her partner like a princess.
What has she said about going on the show? “I am proud to represent masculine-presenting women of colour who are gay. You do not see a lot of us on TV so I'm proud to be an addition to that little presented category. Viewers can expect their heads to be glued to the TV honestly. It is THAT good."
Priya
Age: 23
From: Newport, South Wales
Job: Hotel customer service
What do you need to know about her? Priya finds it difficult to meet other queer women in her local area, and has a habit for falling for people fast, but she's looking to slow things down.
What has she said about going on the show? “Being a Punjabi woman, I am so proud to represent my heritage and the South Asian community. This show embodies love, diversity and being unapologetically queer.”
Eva
Age: 22
From: Belfast
Job: Fashion graduate
What do you need to know about her? Eva is the first surprise arrival to the masseria and while she's been in relationships, she doesn't think she's ever been in love. She's looking for someone who is confident, ambitious and independent.
What has she said about going on the show?: “I used to search and search the internet for any WLW (women who love women) when coming to terms with my sexuality, so something like this is amazing."
