If you’re like us, you’re obsessed with Richard Armitage’s new ITV drama, Red Eye, and pretty much every other TV show and film he’s in. But, did you know he has a boyfriend?

The actor, 52, is currently starring in the crime thriller where he plays a doctor who lands in the UK from China, only to be immediately extradited back to Beijing for a murder he didn’t commit.

So, who is Richard’s boyfriend? The actor keeps his relationship pretty private, but if you’re as nosy as we are, then here’s everything you need to know about him. Thank us later!

Who is Richard Armitage’s boyfriend?

The actor, who is best known for his roles in Fool Me Once, The Stranger and The Hobbit trilogy, previously opened up about his sexuality and how he came out as a teenager.

“[It] happened when I was 19, to anybody who mattered, and I was always waiting for that question to punch me in the face, and it never did," he told Radio Times. "I thought, ‘Are people being polite, or is it that they don’t want to know?’

“I don’t know that I ever wanted to put myself in front of the work I was doing, anything about my family or personal life,” he continued. “I just thought, ‘Let the work speak for itself.’ I love the idea that whatever gender, sexuality, the fluidity of who you love, how you identify, is not fixed.”

“That was always a thing. If I declare who I am and my sexuality, then I’m saying it’s fixed and I don’t know that, or if I might feel something for somebody further down the line. I doubt it, but I don’t know. It’s more relaxed now. As a writer and producer, I do wonder if anybody has to be defined by who they’re in love with.”

On his relationship, Richard hasn’t posted or shared any details about his boyfriend. But, he did reveal that that he had discussed the raunchy scenes in his erotic Netflix series, Obsession, co-starring Charlie Murphy, with him.

“We did talk about it,” he told Evening Standard at the time. “I reassured him that it was all going to be fine, and we were being well looked after. Charlie and I have met each other’s partners and gone for dinner.”

So, that’s that then!

Red Eye is streaming on ITVX now.
